Wasted Rhymes News

Live and Unsigned Area final journey ends but another one starts

Well we didn't make it through to the o2 but hey ho we put up a grand fight amongst fierce oposition all half our ages and did ourselves a grand job. There was a very high standard of young talent and quite honestly we were never going to be chosen above the younger acts who were very talented. However we made our stand for the older band and still feel that it is a little sad that older bands who want to stay original tend to get over looked. It is really hard work to stay playing your own material, it seems once passed a certain age you are supposed to start becoming purely a covers band. Of course there is, as we have said before nothing wrong with that but age should not determine creativity. Wasted Rhymes intend to carry on writing, playing and recording their own material and may play the odd creative cover here and there of course along the way but will stay true to themselves. We would like to thank all those who have supported us in this and whilst this journey has ended another is set to start almost immediately with the recording of our new orginals set. Thanks again to everyone and to the lovely young acts we met at the area finals who we wish all the best of luck to in their musical careers. We have always supported Live music of every kind and could not have got this far without your support so Thanks again and see you soon. Remember we support Paul Young and Los Pacaminos in Oct so make sure you get your tickets early when they go on sale. Much Love Wasted Rhymes xxxxx

Making a stand for the older band.

Wasted Rhymes are making a stand for the older band in their bid to get through to the Grand Final of Live and unsigned at the 02. They have already succesfully got the public vote to take them to the Midland area finals on 13th May at Bedford Corn Exchange. Wasted Rhymes entered the competition as it is open to all age groups to find themselves amongst many, many young bands. Older bands deserve a break too and put in a lot of work, time, effort and are passionate about their music the same as the younger bands. They also support the young bands and Roger from Wasted Rhymes has also run open mic nights helping these young bands to get seen and heard. Therefore we are really grateful to everyone who has got behind us, supported us and our music and our bid to play the 02. Thank you WASTED RHYMES x

Last night, Sat 16th Feb 2008, Wasted supported the legendary 60's band The Animals

Wasted on stage supporting the legendary 60's band The Animals What a night that was! Wasted were the main support for 60's legends The Animals, who I have got to say were excellent!

We want to say a massive thank-you to all those who came along and helped make the night a huge success. We are pleased to say that WASTED sold 50 percent of the tickets for the gig (Not bad! You lot never let us down and we are very grateful!) and as it was for charity that made it very worthwhile.

We had good comments from The Animals: Mick Gallagher said that he thought our versions of the Dixie Chick's songs were great, really good, excellent! Praise indeed from such an excellent key board player and musician! We enjoyed it anyway, as always.

There will be some photos of the gig soon so keep checking the Web site. Thanks again to all of you who came along, without you it would all be pointless anyway. Wasted's Barmy-Army are the best there is! See you all again soon.

Excellent news, Wasted have just signed the release forms for Breakthru Radio a New York based Radio/internet Station to play our music not only in the states but also worldwide via the net. Hopefully this will expand our fan base and get us out there to many more music lovers. Those who want to hear something a bit different from the mainstream rock on offer at the present moment will like our music as it spans a great many genres, styles and tastes. DJ Darkside hosts the show and when we have more news we will pass it on. "Keep rocking live".

Wasted Rock in the Priory Ware 2007

Great news, in fact the best news ever. Wasted have been chosen after auditioning on Sunday 22nd April for a place in this years Rock in the Priory festival. Wasted entered their CD along with dozens of other bands to be chosen as one of 12 bands to audition.

The festival is to be held in the grounds of Ware Priory on Sunday 29th July 2007, 12.00 Noon until 8.00pm (Time on stage to be announced).

We were informed of our success today Monday 23rd April and were told that the judges usually take longer to decide over which bands are to play , but this year they were unanimous in their decisions, which is great news for us and the other bands chosen. Lets hope the weather is kind to us on the day and hope to see you their Rocking away as usual. See you there!

Wasted support Spikedriver at the Walkern Blues Club

Wasted on stage at the Walkern Blues Club What can we say! A storming night was had by all at Walkern on 27th Jan 2007. Wasted supported the mighty Spikedriver who were awesome and who were also fantastically nice people as well.

The Barmy Army did not let us down and provided fifty percent of the audience once again. We thank you for coming, supporting us and making it an excellent night as you always do.

Wasted received very good feedback from Spikedriver and from Mike the music venue's manager. We really enjoyed ourselves and it looked as though everyone else enjoyed it too, which is the most important thing. We would love to play at the May-fest, however there is a short list and so we will have to wait and see if Wasted get a look in or not. Watch this space!

Thanks again to all of you who came especially those who travelled from as far away as Wales (you know who you are) to see us play, amazing.

Very shortly some pictures of the gig will be on the site, we may even have some video footage of you dancing (not sure if this will be able to be put on the site) so make sure you check it out. Hope to see you all again soon.
